I'm completely touched out and can't be needed for one more second
ADHD parent behaviour
What to do right now
Your sensory system is full. Every touch, every tug, every 'mum watch this' is landing on a nervous system that has nothing left to receive. This is not rejection of your child. This is your ADHD sensory processing hitting capacity. Name it without guilt. 'I love you and my body needs five minutes without being touched.' Then take the five minutes.
What your brain just did
Your body
Every nerve ending is saying stop. The hugs, the pulls, the constant physical contact. Your body has reached sensory saturation.
Your brain
ADHD sensory processing in the parent can reach overload from sustained physical contact, especially after a day of other sensory demands. Being 'touched out' is a real, documented sensory state, not a failure of warmth.
What this did
Name it kindly. 'My body needs a break from touching.' Then take it. Five minutes of physical space restores more capacity than an hour of gritting through it.
