What to do right now

You are the human reminder system. Without you, the morning does not happen, the homework does not start, the bag does not get packed, the teeth do not get brushed. You are exhausted from being the family's executive function and there is no one to hand it to. Externalise what you can. Alarms, visual schedules, automated reminders. Each system that runs without your voice is one less demand on your depleted brain. You cannot outsource all of it. But you can outsource some of it.

ADHD households often lack a neurotypical anchor to maintain systems. When both parents have ADHD, or the primary caregiver does, the executive function load falls on a brain that is already at capacity.

What this did

Externalise everything possible. Alarms, automated reminders, visual schedules, default routines. Each system that runs without your voice is one less demand on your depleted brain.
